HushDraft Privacy Policy

At HushDraft, we believe your voice, your words, and your ideas belong solely to you. We designed the HushDraft desktop application ("Software") from the ground up to be a privacy-first, offline tool.

This Privacy Policy explains what data our Software uses and, more importantly, what it does not collect.

1. Zero Cloud Processing

HushDraft operates entirely on your local hardware.

• No Cloud Audio: When you use the dictation feature, your audio is recorded by your local microphone and processed instantly by the AI model running directly on your computer's CPU or GPU.
• No Cloud Text Processing: When you use the "Magic Improver" or "Translation" features, the text is processed locally by your machine.
• We do not transmit your voice, audio files, or generated text to any external servers, third-party APIs, or cloud platforms.

2. Local Data Storage

All data generated by your use of the Software remains exclusively on your device.

• Transcriptions: Your recent dictation history (up to 5,000 entries) is stored locally on your device's hard drive so you can review your past work. We have no access to this data.
• Settings: Your preferences, custom hotkeys, and application settings are saved locally.
• Because this data is stored locally, you maintain complete control over it. You can delete the app or its local app data folder at any time to permanently erase this information.

3. Network Access & Open Source Models

While HushDraft functions offline, it requires an internet connection for the following specific purposes:

• Downloading AI Models: Upon initial setup, or when you choose to switch AI models in the settings, the Software connects directly to huggingface.co (a public repository for AI models) via secure HTTPS requests. It downloads the necessary model weight files (in .gguf or .bin format) directly to your local application data folder.
• How It Works: The application acts similarly to a web browser fetching a large file. The connection is used exclusively to pull the model files down to your machine so that all subsequent audio and text processing can happen completely offline.
• No PII Transmitted: During these downloads, no personally identifiable information (PII), API keys, accounts, or usage data are sent from your device.

4. No Telemetry or Tracking

We do not monitor how you use the Software.

• There are no hidden tracking cookies, analytics engines, or silent crash reporters embedded in the HushDraft desktop application.
• We do not collect metrics on what you dictate, how often you use the app, or what languages you translate into.

5. Security

Because all processing and storage happen locally, the security of your dictation data depends entirely on the security of your local device. We recommend using standard best practices, such as strong passwords and disk encryption, to protect your computer. We assume no liability for the security of data stored locally on your machine.

6. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Since the app is offline, any changes to our privacy practices will be reflected in updates to the application itself and accompanied by a revised Privacy Policy.
